Marriage

The bridal couple must at least 6 months before the ceremony, have contacted the Parish Priest in order to make the necessary arrangements and formalities, and receive marriage instruction. (Click here)

For a marriage in Denmark the couple must give the following documents to the priest:

a) Birth and baptismal/ name certificate

b) Confirmation Certificate

c) Civil certificate – obtained at the Registry Office (Kommunekontor)

Civil Marriage: If a civil marriage has taken place, one must produce a certificate from the Registry Office (Folkeregister) stating one’s civil status before the civil marriage took place. This is in order to certify that the persons have not been married previously.
