During mass on Sundays and Holy Days there is a collection which is a gift from the local parishioners to their parish. Sometimes there is a collection for some special cause outside of the parish. In Denmark, unlike many other countries, there is no set fee for church ceremonies, though one is always welcome to give a present. However, one must pay for any expenses connected with the ceremony.
It is important to remember, in connection with church services or ceremonies, that one should not regard the gifts as payment. Any freely given gift cannot compensate for the Church Tax which one has a duty to pay.
