MESSAGE FROM THE CLERGY
Dear parishioners of the English-Speaking, and Filipino Community at St. Anne’s Church,

Jesus says, “The Son of man came not to be served but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.” (Mark 10:4)

Just as Christ our Lord and Master was called to a life of service, we His followers too are called to the same. The Lord and His Church call each of us to bring forward the God-given gifts and talents for the betterment of God’s people.

The SWOT (Strength-Weaknesses-Opportunities-Threats) Analysis which was conducted in the Spring of 2009 at St. Anne’s English-Speaking and Filipino Community helped us to see the strengths and opportunities of our parish community. It also challenged us to focus on certain areas we need to improve, in order to provide better service for our parishioners.

Based on the SWOT Analysis, we came up with: The Ministry Description Guide

The word ‘Ministry’ comes from the Greek ‘diakoneo’, meaning ‘to serve’. Christian ministry means lovingly serving the needs of others with humility and devotion to God. It is the duty of every Christian to serve one another with love and joy, and Jesus our Lord is our model for service.

“Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet,
you also should wash one another’s feet.” John 13:14

With prayerful reflection we drew some ‘ministries’ from the SWOT Analysis in order to address some of the immediate needs of our church community, which we feel are important and relevant. At the same time we realize that we cannot address these needs without your valuable support and service.

Now through this we seek volunteers who are willing to offer their services freely to the Church and its parishioners by joining in one or more of the ministries specified.

Why should we join a ministry?

It’s a way to grow: Joining a ministry team is a great way to grow in friendships, knowledge, and in your spiritual journey. Ephesians 4:16

It’s a way to give back: Has the Christian community touched your life in any meaningful way? Now is your chance to make a difference in someone else’s life, “A Church that makes a difference!” 1 Peter 4:10

It’s a way to glorify God: Not only will you build a relationship, and enjoy the satisfaction of a service worth doing, but, more importantly, you will glorify God. 1 Peter 4:1

We hope you will find the Ministry Description Guide helpful as you pray and seek God’s guidance in discerning where He would have you serve. A sign-up sheet is included at the end each ministry. We encourage you to volunteer for one or more ministries, which you believe that the Lord is calling you to serve.

We look forward to seeing many more active members in various ministries in the parish, thus making this community more vibrant and alive. We pray for God’s blessings upon you and your families and for the protection of Our Mother of Perpetual Help.
